SHEENA SHINES FOR SEAWOLVES
Sophomore Sheena Johnson continues to have success for Sonoma State, going 1-0 in the early going. The Seawolves have benefited from her leading the way, defeating Dominican on February 4th, thanks in part to Johnson's 6-0, 6-0 victory over Jessica Curlett of the Lady Penguins. The Seawolves most recently pulled an upset over Division I San Jose State in the #2 spot with an 8-7 victory in doubles play, but lost the match 7-0.
URBAN KNIGHTS GRINDING IT OUT
The Knights have three wins so far this season, all of them coming in drawn out 5-4 battles, with the match against Chaminade being a comeback win, down 4-2 before rallying for three straight wins in singles play. Coach Jerry Peach has praised his team for their ability to fight until the last match, and says that good teams are the ones that can win 5-4 and come back the next day to do it again.
PREIKSCHAS WINNING FOR WARRIORS
Verena Preikschas dominated in the #1 spot for Cal State Stanislaus so far, defeating Alex Scotten of UC Santa Cruz 6-1, 6-0, in the first match of the season. She also teamed up with the Warriors #2 Katie Eng to win their doubles match 8-4, as the two seniors on the CSUS roster are more than capable of leading the way on the court. The Warriors most recently lost to Pacific 6-1 despite Preikschas going 2-0.
ON THE DOCKET
The Knights will head to Dixie to participate in the Dixie State Tournament on March 2-3. On the second they'll face host Dixie State, and on March 3 they'll have a doubleheader with Southern Utah University and Colorado Mesa University.
