Phoenix, AZ -- Major factors in ART U's 95-56 victory over Notre Dame de Namur to open up Pacific West Conference play this past weekend, seniors
Ariel Dale and
Jordan Rogers were once again honored on the PacWest Weekly Fantastic 15. Dale and Rogers combined to score approximately one-third of that point total and led a defensive effort that scored 27 points off turnovers. The honors were announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ on Monday, Dec. 3 for games played Nov. 26 - Dec. 5.
Rogers, one of ART U's top scorers thus far, delivered the hot hand, pouring in a season-high 20 points in the Urban Knights' victory this past Saturday. The Sparks, NV native found her stroke from long range early, knocking down her first 3-pointer to give Academy of Art its second and ultimately permanent lead over the Argos. Rogers followed up her nine-point first half with 11 in the second as the Knights commanded a 30+ point advantage for much of the period.
The senior completed her night with the game-high 20 points, six rebounds, and dealt out four assists. Her 58.3 percent shooting from the floor (7-for-12) was not only her best clip of the season, but also was tied for seventh-best in the PacWest for the week. She tossed in three 3-pointers as well. On the season, Rogers ranks 12th in the conference in scoring (13.1 ppg), fifth in free throw percentage (.808) after going 3-for-4 versus NDNU, and 13th in assists (2.9 apg).
Determined to make every possession count Saturday, Dale offered an impressive performance epitomized by her ability to grab offensive rebounds and provide tough defense. The Los Angeles, CA native notched seven points in the first half, but also had three steals which led to fastbreak layups on two of those occasions. In the second half, Dale crashed the offensive glass even harder and was rewarded with 11 points as well as three offensive rebounds which were part of 27 second-chance points for ART U in the period.
In the lone game of the week, Dale finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, four steals. She went 8-for-16 to shoot 50 percent from the floor coming off the bench. in the PacWest. Dale has now moved up to the PacWest steals leader (3.1 spg) and also ranks sixth in the PacWest in scoring (14.7 ppg), 4th in offensive rebounds (3.3 rpg), 11th in assists (3.1 apg), and 10th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.0).
This is the fourth consecutive occasion this season in which Dale has been honored on the PacWest's weekly selections and the fifth in her ART U career. For Rogers, it's the second weekly honor and third in her career.
