Phoenix, AZ --- The Pacific West Conference recognized three Academy of Art athletes for their game play last week. Senior
Jessica Nolan earned the highest honor, Pacific West Player of the Week, while
Verity Peets and
Nicole DeRosier landed a spot on the Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll. The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Feb. 21, for games held Feb. 14-20.
Fueled by the "big three" ART U registered an 87-73 victory over BYU-Hawaii on Saturday, February 19th. In that game Nolan put together an impressive 20 point performance, going 7-of-12 from the floor and 6-of-9 from the free-throw line. She also notched 10 rebounds which earned the senior her 11th double-double of the season. An achievement which set a new program record for most double-doubles in a season.
In the Urban Knights 74-35 win over Chaminade University on February 17th Nolan finished with a game high 21 points in just 25 minutes of play. The senior registered 15 of her points in the first half of competition. Overall, Nolan shot 72% for the game (8-of-11) and was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.
For the week Nolan led the Urban Knights by averaging 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game - all while shooting 65.2% (15 for 23) from the floor. She ranked fifth in shooting, tied in fifth scoring and was seventh in rebounding in the PacWest for the week. She also ranked fifth in assists per game (5.0), tied for sixth in steals per game (2.0) and made 11 of 15 (73.3%) free throw attempts.
Nicole DeRosier earns a spot on the Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll selection for the second week in a row.
DeRosier helped lead the Urban Knights to a 2-0 week by averaging 23 points per game. The juniors career and program high 29 points in ART U's 87-73 victory over BYU-Hawaii landed her atop the league in scoring for the week.
Nicole shot 52.9% (18 for 34) from the field, made 8-of-19 (42.1%) three-point attempts and averaged four made three's per game. She tied for first in three's made per game and ranked 10th in three-point shooting for the week. Currently Nicole ranks sixth in the conference in scoring with 13.3 points per game. She is second in the conference in three-point percentage (39.2%), and three-pointers made.
Verity Peets rounds out the ART U PacWest achievements.
Peets also helped the Urban Knights to a 2-0 week by averaging 22 points and 7.5 rebounds per game all while shooting 65.4% (17 for 26) from the floor. Peets finished with a season high 26 points in ART U's most recent win over BYU-Hawaii. The senior had back-to-back games where she scored 16 second half points.
Verity ranked fourth in shooting, third in scoring and ninth in rebounding in the PacWest for the week. She also tied for fourth in steals per game (2.5), and made 10-of-15 (66.7%) free throw attempts.
