TIPPING OFF
The Urban Knights had another tough loss last week at the hands of Menlo College, with a spirited final minute of scoring ending up with the Knights on the wrong end of a 72-67 loss. Ameer Shamsud-din had 20 points and Noah Koné-Nelson added a career-high 19 points in the defeat.

SHOOT, SCORE, REPEAT
Shamsud-din and sophomore guard William Overton, Jr. have been lighting up the scoreboard in the first half of the season, and as such are both in the top five in scoring in the PacWest. As a result, they both have now earned multiple selections to the PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll. Overton has three selections, and he AND Shamsud-din were selected for the week of Nov. 14-20 and Nov. 28 - Dec.4.

OH NOAH HE DIDN'T
Sophomore forward Noah Koné-Nelson has benefitted greatly from increased playing time this year. He has more than doubled his scoring average from 3.4 points per game in 2010-11 to 7.8 points per game so far in 2011-12, and obliterated last year's scoring high of nine points last weekend. Koné-Nelson has scored in double digits three times, dropping a dozen points twice before his 19-point outburst. He has also greatly improved his shooting percentage, which is at .528 this year as opposed to .382 last year.

NORTH OF THE BORDER
The Urban Knights will have to find a way to contain sophomore combo guard Javari Williams, who has led the Clan in scoring in seven of their eight games so far and is averaging 24.4 points per contest. The Clan boast four scorers, with senior guard Justin Brown, a Bay Area native, chipping in 13.9 ppg, and fellow guards Matt Raivio (10.8 ppg) and Jordan Sergent (10.4 ppg) also averaging in double figures.

LOOKING AHEAD
Academy of Art will have another week before they begin their conference schedule against Cal Baptist in Riverside. They will then face The Master's College (CA) on December 30th, and start the new year against Dixie State for their first game of 2012 on January 3rd.
