PacWest Release
Phoenix, AZ – Another week of solid performances has junior forward
Keith Davis on the Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll yet again. Davis was the seventh best scorer in the PacWest for the week and now ranks fourth overall in points per game (16.2). The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Jan. 24, for games contested on Jan. 17-23.
In Academy of Art University's first PacWest home game against Dixie State on Jan. 17, Davis was locked in. The junior forward scored 12 of his game-high 19 points in the second half as ART U battled back to within two points on a fast-break layup by the Long Beach, CA native. Davis later knocked down his third 3-pointer of the night to keep the Urban Knights close midway through the second period.
For all of his efforts against the Red Storm, Davis played an even larger role in Academy of Art's first PacWest victory in program history on Jan. 20. After scoring 16 points in the opening half, Davis was given the ball in the final 14 seconds of a tie game. He confidently worked his way inside and gently floated in the game-winning basket amongst the GCU defense. Davis' heroic effort saw him complete the Knights' 60-58 win with a game-high 18 points and eight rebounds.
“My team helped install a lot of confidence in me because I was struggling throughout the second half,” Davis said. “But in the huddle before the shot, my teammate Czar said, 'Keith's going to make this shot so after he makes it, stay composed.' So he really installed the confidence in me before I had it in myself and when he gave me the ball, I knew we didn't have much time and I took it straight to the rim. When I made it, I was so happy! That's my first college game-winner!”
The seventh highest scorer in the PacWest during the Knights' 1-1 week, Davis averaged 18.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. He shot 55.6% from beyond the three-point line to finish fourth in that category for the week. In addition to the 2.5 3-pointers made per game, Davis contributed 12 rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
Davis has now amassed six PacWest Weekly Honor Roll selections this season. He has earned two in a row and four in the last five weeks.
