PacWest Adds Overton, Jr. To Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll

Phoenix, AZ – Two strong offensive performances have freshman foward William Overton, Jr. on this week's Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll. As Academy of Art University opened PacWest play on Jan. 6, Overton, Jr. averaged 18.0 points per game to remain the conference's leading scorer. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Jan. 10, for games contested on Jan. 3-9.

In the second half of the Urban Knights' contest at Hawaii-Hilo, Overton, Jr. heated up with 15 points on 50 percent shooting from the field (6-of-12). His amazing shot off the backboard kept ART U within 10 points, 65-55, and shortly thereafter the freshman forward dealt out one of his two assists on the night. He finished with a game-high 17 points and a team-best eight rebounds. Then, at Chaminade on Jan. 8, Overton, Jr. scored 19 points with another second half barrage. All three of his 3-pointers came in a 15-point second period, including one with nine seconds left to bring Academy of Art within one point, 67-66. Overton, Jr. added four rebounds as well.

For the week, Overton, Jr. averaged 18.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. He was tied for fifth in the PacWest in scoring as well as tied for seventh in rebounding. The Perth Amboy, NJ native also contributed three assists and one blocked shot over ART U's first two PacWest Conference games.

Overton, Jr. earns his third PacWest Weekly Top 10 selection of the season. With his previous Player of the Week honor, the freshman forward has been honored in half of the eight weeks thus far.
