Glendale, AZ - In their second game of the Pacific West Championships Tournament, the Academy of Art University faced off against a PacWest favorite Hawaii Hilo  on Friday afternoon. The Urban Knights battled with the Vulcans for the entire match, but with a lot on the line in the game, the Knights stepped up their game. After a hard fought match, the Knights came out victorious with a final score of 5-4.

The Knights were evenly matched by the Vulcans in singles, as they won three of the six matches. Laone "Lala" Botshoma helped the Urban Knights by defeating her opponent with scores of 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Anna Ritchie also won her singles match with scores of 6-0, 4-6, 6-2, and Maria "Belen" Tenorio also came out on top or the Knights as she finished with scores of 6-0, 6-2.

With the game tied at three going into the doubles competitions, the Knights stepped up their play, eager for the win. After dropping the first doubles match to the Vulcans, the next two Urban Knights' teams came out attacking. Paola Correa Fe and Anna Ritchie teamed up to defeat thier Vulcan opponents 9-7. With everything on the line in the final doubles match, Maria Tenorio and Cecilia Hedin played thier hearts out and were victorious, defeating thier competitors 8-6. That final doubles match secured the win for the Urban Knights, and they now advance in the tournament to play for a higher finish. The Urban Knights continue their play in the PacWest Tournament on Saturday, April 17th when they take on Grand Canyon University.
