HONOR ROLL
Urban Knights'
Jessica Nolan and
Verity Peets were named to the PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll this week. The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Tuesday, Feb. 16, for games contested Feb. 8-14.
Nolan (Adelaide, Australia , Lassen College) posted a double-double in 64-61 loss vs. NDNU on Feb. 13 she scored 18 points, collected 10 rebounds and handed out three assists in the setback. The double-double marked her fourth in a row. Coach Yamasaki was pleased with Nolan's effort for the week," Jess has continued to push herself more and more offensively for us this season. We see glimpses of greatness in her and at this rate I think we will start to see greatness more consistently come her senior year. "
Peets (Stockport, England, Idaho State University) was the Knights leading scorer in their contest versus NDNU. She scored 19 points and collected five rebounds in the 64-61 loss to the Argo's.
Peets shot 64.3% (9 for 14) from the field and is now.ranked eighth for the week in scoring, she is also ranked third in scoring for the week. Yamasaki had this to say about Peets' nomination, "Verity really stepped up big for us against Notre Dame. Sometimes I don't think she realizes how strong and dominant she can be in the paint and deadly from the high post. She has great touch from 10-12 feet and when she gets on balance she can finish well around the rim". Coach Yamasaki also said this of the junior post, "I was so proud of her effort down the stretch against NDNU. We were able to go to her and she played with confidence and got the job done. It helped that she didn't get into foul trouble late in the game like she did in the first half. I am proud of her for stepping up and hitting some big shots".
