San Francisco, CA-
The Urban Knights held their first home games of the 2010 season on Wednesday evening against William Jessup University. The Academy of Art and the first year William Jessup team played two closely matched games. In game one of the doubleheader, the Knights were able to rally enough runs to come out on top with a 7-6 win. However, things fell apart for AAU in the second game, as William Jessup came from behind to take an 8-6 victory.

In game one, William Jessup scored first taking an early one run lead in the top of the first inning. But the Urban Knights answered right back by posting three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. The score went back and forth for most of the game as the Warriors scored two runs in the third, which were immediately answered by three Urban Knights' runs in the fourth. The Warriors added two more runs in the sixth, as the Knights added one run in the sixth, and William Jessup scored one last run in the top of the seventh. The Urban Knights' one run lead proved to be enough to hold the Warriors and they ended up winning 7-6.

The Urban Knights out hit their opponents 11-8, but errors were costly as AAU recorded two in the game. They also left six runners on base.

Junior Ashley Lokey again had a strong game at the plate. She went 3-4 with two runs scored, one run batted in, and one stolen base. Sophomore Melissa Coe also went 3-4 with one run scored, one run batted in, and two stolen bases. Senior Shampayne Clay (who had one RBI) and freshman Nicole Smith both went 1-3 with one run scored, and sophomore Sierrah Garcia went 1-2 with two runs scored.

On the mound for the Urban Knights was Sierrah Garcia. Garcia went seven innings pitched giving up five earned runs, three hit batters and recorded 10 strikeouts. She receives the win for the game.

For the Warriors, Tanya Perez went 2-4 with one run scored, and one RBI, and Alexandra Franco also went 2-4. Mallory Blodgett did well going 2-3 with one run scored. Receiving the loss was Kara Besseghini who went 3.2 innings pitched giving up six earned runs, no walks and one strikeout.

In the nightcap, the Urban Knights came out attacking putting up two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Each team scored one run in the second, and AAU proceeded to add two more runs in the third. A solid pitching performance by the Urban Knights' Kimberly Dauer kept the Warriors off balance for most of the game.

However, the Urban Knights would not be able to hold onto their 5-1 lead. In the sixth inning the Warriors came alive and scored four runs. The Urban Knights were able to score one more run of their own in the bottom of the inning, after what looked like the start of a large rally, but that would not be enough to stop the Warriors. After William Jessup pushed three more runs across in the seventh, the Urban Knights were unable to score any more runs of their own, and came up short in the game with a final score of 8-6.

Sophomore Jayme Stewart had a tremendous game at the plate going 4-4 with a double, one run scored, and three runs batted in. Sierrah Garcia did well going 2-3 with one run scored and one run batted in, and Shampayne Clay went 2-4 with a double, and two runs scored.

In the circle for the Urban Knights was freshman Kimberly Dauer. Dauer pitched a good game going 6.2 innings pitched giving up seven earned runs, no walks, and five strikeouts.
