Phoenix, AZ -- Following a week that featured the Urban Knights' victory over Upper Iowa, freshman forward William Overton, Jr. and junior forward Keith Davis have both been named to the Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll. Overton, Jr. led the PacWest in scoring for the week and was also second in rebounding while Davis contributed two solid games of his own including a team-high 18 points against Concordia University. The honors were announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Nov. 29, for games played Nov. 22-28.
In Academy of Art University's 63-61 win against Upper Iowa on Nov. 26, Overton, Jr. entered the program record books as the fourth Urban Knight ever to score 25 points in a game. Overton, Jr. achieved the feat in just his third contest at ART U and added 10 rebounds as well. The Perth Amboy, NJ native was 2-for-4 shooting from beyond the arc and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line. To begin the second half versus the Peacocks, Overton, Jr. put in 10 of the Knights' first 12 points.
The following evening, Academy of Art faced Concordia University, St. Paul and Overton, Jr. notched his second double-double in as many nights. With 12 points and 10 rebounds, the freshman forward became the first ART U men's basketball player to record consecutive double-doubles. Overton, Jr. finished the week averaging a PacWest Conference best 18.5 points per game while shooting 51.9 percent from the floor (14-for-27). His 10.0 rebounds per contest were second in the conference and Overton, Jr. added two assists, two blocks, and one steal on the roadtrip.
In ART U's two-game week, Davis also scored in double figures on both occasions. The junior forward went for 13 points and seven rebounds against Upper Iowa with a clutch layup late in the second half to put Academy of Art ahead for good. Davis gave the Knights second chances with five rebounds (three offensive) in the first period along with a game-high eight points at that time.
The Long Beach, CA native then exploded offensively to the tune of 18 points against Concordia University, St. Paul. Davis knocked down three 3-pointers, grabbed five rebounds, and dealt out three assists in the final game of the 2010 Radisson Roseville Thanksgiving Basketball Classic. He finished the week averaging 15.5 points per game (tied for fifth in the PacWest) and 6.0 rebounds per contest (tied for 10th in the PacWest).
Both Davis and Overton, Jr. earn the first PacWest Honor Roll selections of their respective ART U careers.
