Phoenix, AZ: The Urban Knights women's tennis team faced 2nd ranked BYU Hawaii earlier today in the Knight's second day at the Grand Canyon University Tournament. The Seasiders swept each of the three doubles matches by identical 8-1 scores and then took each of the six singles matches in straight sets. The Urban Knights knew this was going to be a tough match up, but they were anticipating the test.
Head Coach Dave Allen commented that “facing the #1 school in our conference and in the country was a challenge that the girls were really looking forward to, especially considering the Seasiders are always a contender for the Division II national championship.” Allen noted that Maria "Belen" Tenorio fought hard against the talented Jenny Chin. “Our scores by far reflect our experience but not the competitiveness of each individual match,” Allen said.
