THREE TO GO
Academy of Art University has just three more games before they start conference play. The Knights first travel to Belmont, CA where they will play two games in the NDNU Classic. AAU faces Concordia University – St. Paul on day one, followed by Cal State East Bay on the second and final day. The Urban Knights will close out their preseason on Monday Dec. 21 with a match up against Division I Sacramento State University. AAU will have played all 11 preseason games on the road when they start their PacWest season on January 5.

HONOR ROLL
AAU opened up their season winning three of their first four games, however, they have since struggled to find an offensive groove, dropping their last four games going into Friday evening match up. Despite the losses senior point guard Sondra Stilwell has managed to garner back-to-back PacWest Conference Top 10 Weekly Honor Roll nominations. Last week Stilwell ranked sixth in PacWest in scoring (11.5 ppg) and she averaged 2.5 assists per game to tie for sixth in the league. Stilwell hit four three-pointers in two games, averaging 2.0 per game to tie for second during the week and tied for second in steals per game (2.5).

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN BEARS
The Golden Bears of Concordia University – St, Paul are undefeated (8-0) going into Friday's game. Their latest victory came at the dismay of MSU Moorhead. The Golden Bears cruised to a 77-55 victory over the Dragons on Dec. 12. Concordia had four people finish the game in double figures, including leading scoring Jineen Williams who tied Gillian Bjerke with a team high 17 points. Overall, Williams is averaging 15.6 ppg and leads the team with 29 assists and eight blocked shots.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Cal State East Bay is entering into their first season as a Division II competitor. The Pioneers scheduled a tough preseason schedule dropping their first five matches of the season to very competitive and established teams. The Pioneers most recent loss came at the hands of No. 13 UC San Diego, the Tritons took the game by a score of 78-61. Claudia Nelson leads the offensive charge for the Pioneers; she is averaging 13.8 ppg, has dished out a team high 12 assists, and has seized 12 steals thus far. On the glass for the Pioneers, Lauren Lucchesi averages 7.2 rpg and grabbed a team high 12 rebounds against Cal Poly Pomona on Dec. 4.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
The true test for the Urban Knights will come when they travel to Sacramento, CA to take on the Hornets of Sacramento State University on their home floor. This game will be the Urban Knights first and only Division I match-up of the season. The Hornets are just 2-7 thus far in their season, and have dropped their last three matches. Sac State has two players who are averaging double digits in points; Charday Hunt leads the Hornets in both points (16.4 ppg) and rebounds (6.1 rpg), while Emily Christensen adds 10.8 ppg. The Urban Knights will have to watch out for Erika Edwards who is shooting 44% from behind the arc (22-49) and is second on the team in rebounding (6.0rpg).

LAST GAME RECAP
Academy of Art University fell to 3-5 Saturday when they were defeated by California State University of Los Angeles (1-4), 54-43. In only the seventh game of her career, freshman Madeline Houston led the Urban Knights notching a team high nine points and seven rebounds.

The first half proved to be a hard fought battle between the Golden Eagles and the Urban Knights. AAU was able to hold Cal State L.A. to less than 30 percent shooting while AAU knocked down 10 of 29 shots from the floor as a team.

Down only two at the half, junior Verity Peets was able to tie the score, but the Golden Eagles would have an answer. Cal State L.A. went on a 21-0 run, from which the Urban Knights could not recover.

Senior Sondra Stilwell recorded eight points hitting 3 of her 8 shots from the floor. The guard, who has been an offensive force all season, entered the game averaging 13.7 points per game and she brought down three rebounds and handed out two assists for AAU.

Jazzi Johnson provided the Golden Ealges with a second half surge as she notched 14 points, giving her 20 in the game. Jordan Kuzma also looked sharp for Cal State L.A. as she tallied 14 points and grabbed a game high 12 rebounds.

Up next, AAU will return to the Bay Area to take on Concordia University, St. Paul in Belmont, California. The game is set for 5 p.m. on Friday December 18th at Walter Gleason Gym.
