OPENING TIP:
The Knights opened the month of December with a win against Dominican University, 68-66. But however fell to the Lady Wildcats of Central Washington University on Saturday afternoon Dec 13, 59-66.
LOOKING AHEAD:
AAU has three games remaining in 2008. Their next challenge is on Dec 17th against Pac-West Conference opponent Notre Dame de Namur University (2-7), their final two games are against two CCAA opponents, including Humboldt State University (5-3) on Dec 20, and cross-town opponent San Francisco State University (6-2) on Dec 29th at Kezar Pavilion.
SCOUTING THE ARGONAUTS:
After starting the year with a 1-1 record, Notre Dame de Namur lost five games in a row before defeating Western New Mexico on December 6th, 86-81, to improve to 2-6 overall. Players to watch: Tanaia Keyes who is averaging 17.0 ppg, Britni Rathke averaging 13.4 ppg and Kim Hom who is averaging 9.8 ppg.
AGAINST THE WILDCATS:
Coming off their victory against Dominican University, the Academy of Art University women's basketball team dropped a 59-66 decision to the Central Washington University Wildcats. At SF State's Main Gymnasium on Saturday, the Urban Knights established a seven-point lead in the first 12 minutes before a 14-0 run by CWU shifted the momentum. AAU kept the game close late, but the Wildcats maintained their advantage by making 5-of-6 free throws in the final minute. The Urban Knights were led by point guard Sondra Stilwell (Redding, CA ) who posted 19 points, seven steals, and four assists. In her return from injury, forward Levalasi Key (Citrus Heights,CA) had 13 points and five rebounds in 20 minutes of action.
