San Francisco Calif. (12/13/08) -- The Central Washington women's basketball team handed the Academy of Art University a 59-66 defeat in a neutral-site contest at San Francisco State University's Main Gymnasium.  With the victory, the Wildcats improve to 2-7 on the season, while the Urban Knights fall to 1-8 overall.

AAU built a 17-10 advantage in the first half on jumper by junior guard Jacqui Heck at the 7:54 mark.  However, CWU came roaring back with a 14-0 run, punctuated by a Jenn Jacobs 3-pointer with 4:17 left before intermission.  

After taking a 26-22 lead into the locker room, the Wildcats built a 10-point bulge at 49-39 on layup by Stephanie Wenke at the 7:01 mark. The Knights had a chance to trim the deficit to four points, but AAU was called for a lane violation after a senior forward Levalasi Key free throw with 1:17 left on the clock.  Jacobs then converted a three-point play at other end, making the score 62-54 with just 51 seconds remaining.  

CWU was led by Jacobs, who scored 18 points, while teammate Shaina Afoa added 13. Meanwhile, Hillary Tanneberg contributed eight points and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.  AAU was paced by freshman point guard Sondra Stilwell, who tossed in a game-high 19 points.
