Taking her first steps toward building on her four career NCAA Division II National Championships and 23 All-American honors, Academy of Art track & field's Marie-Jeanne Ourega debuted in a big way in both indoor horizontal jumps at the Silver State Invite/Multi.

The Communications & Media Technologies major began on Dec. 6 in the long jump where she went 20-2.5 (6.16m) on her final attempt, finishing second only to San Jose State’s Emilia Sjostrand (currently No. 1 in NCAA Division I) in a field of nearly 50 jumpers with plenty of NCAA DI talent.

That Indoor Nationals provisional mark was later paired with a another, 39-5 (12.01m) in the triple jump, that had her sixth out of a 20+ jumper field filled with more NCAA DI competitors on Dec. 7. She resides at sixth in the event among NCAA DII jumpers.
