Knights Close Out Patriot Invite With Team's Best Round

CARMEL, Calif. – Ending The Patriot Invitational on Tuesday, Academy of Art women's tennis finished their final round of play, totaling a 93-over-par 945 while three Urban Knights shot a consistent score to one another and improved from the first two rounds as a unit.

All shooting a 6-over-par 71 on the second day of play, freshman Jannel Calixterio, freshman Isabella Christy, and sophomore Chantel Tsai each shot the identical score while the latter finished ahead of her team with a 15-over-par 228 total, concluding the tournament in 20th place individually. Junior Nicole Yang finished up in second for ART U with her 23-over-par 236, while the previously mentioned first-years rounded out their scores within one shot of each other, as Christy finished with a 29-over-par 242, as Calixterio held a 30-over-par 243. Freshman Meri Illamola came up next for the team, ending with a 36-over-par 249.

No. 4 Dallas Baptist pulled off the upset in the end over a NCAA Division I team in Harvard, as DBU held a 33-over-par 885, two strokes ahead of Harvard's 35-over-par 887. Ellen Spigner of Arkansas Tech 1-under-par 212 was the best individually, just ahead of No. 21 Gracie Grant and Vanessa Zhang of Harvard, edging the pair by one stroke.

Getting a three-week break, ART U will compete for the final time before the Pacific West Conference Championship Tournament, with their next showing at the Sonoma State Spring Invitational taking place on Apr. 7 at Foxtail Golf Club.
