ART U Stays Competitive, Stanislaus Sneaks Out 4-3 Win

TURLOCK, Calif. – On the road for the first time in 2025, No. 22 Academy of Art women's tennis saw Stanislaus State eke out a close and competitive 4-3 victory on their home courts on Saturday afternoon.

Starting the match with doubles, sophomore Amelija Supulniece and junior Jessica Plazas made quick work while taking down Emma Yu and Annabelle Mulick 6-1 for the first doubles win for ART U, but after winning their matchups on Courts 2 and 3 with scores of 6-2 and 7-5, the Warriors would take the doubles point and be up 1-0 headed into singles action.

The Urban Knights' top two singles players in Supulniece and Plazas shined once again, as ART U scored two times on the top courts with Supulniece taking down Alyssa Tay 6-1, 6-0 while Plazas defeated Yu 6-2, 6-3. Unable to secure a point from the Warriors on Courts 3, 4, and 5, the three singles victories for Stanislaus were enough to get to four points for the team to secure the win. Sophomore Georgiana Parr on Court 6 battled in an intense match with Parker Orlando, and was able to secure her first singles win of the campaign in her 6-3, 6-7 (9-11), 11-9 match.

Back at home in just a week, ART U will host Dominican at The Club at Livermore on Friday, Feb. 14 with first serve commencing at 10 a.m.
