Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout (Final)

ALAMEDA, Calif. – Competing with the top half and middle of the competition throughout the entirety of the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, Academy of Art women's golf closed out their second day of play on Tuesday morning and totaled a 43-over-par 619 at Corica Park Golf Course. 

Helping place the team in the second round and overall individual rankings, freshman Meri Illamola shot a 3-over-par 75, a tie for her season-best for a single round, to better her first round score by two strokes, and finished with a 8-over-par 152, good for 31st place. Next up on ART U was freshman Jannel Calixterio, whose 7-over-par 79 finished off her two-round total of 9-over-par 153. Freshman Isabella Christy followed with a 10-over-par 154, while sophomore Chantel Tsai rounded out the team score with her 16-over-par 160. Junior Nicole Yang also concluded the tournament with an 18-over-par 162.

Putting together the best overall team score in the tournament was the host school in Cal State East Bay with their 7-over-par 583, while Cal State Los Angeles was right behind by just two strokes to finish with a 9-over-par 585. Ahead of the three players of 103 total who were each from different schools and who shot under through two rounds, Madison Murr from Cal State San Marcos and Daniela Andrade from CSULA eventually tied for the best scores of the Pioneer Shootout individually, each 5-under-par 139, before Murr prevailed in a one-hole playoff.

ART U will get a two-week break before they're back in the action, as they'll begin the SMSU Spring Invitational at Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield, Ariz. on Monday, May 10.
