Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout (Day 1)Â
ALAMEDA, Calif. – One round through the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout held at the Corica Park Golf Course, Academy of Art women's golf sits in eighth place of 19 teams as the Urban Knights came out with a 19-over-par 307 to lead over 10 schools, including numerous Pacific West Conference opponents.
As ART U picked up seven birdies in their back half of the day with 11 overall, freshman Jannel Calixterio shot a team-lead four under-pars in the first round, totaling a 2-over-par 74 to finish in 13th place overall in her first play through of the tournament. Just two strokes back, freshman
Isabella Christy filled the second spot on the roster with her 4-over-par 76, while freshman
Meri Illamola was right there with them with her 5-over-par 77. Tying to finish out the team score were junior
Nicole Yang and sophomore
Chantel Tsai, as the duo each shot an 8-over-par 80.
While the host school in Cal State East Bay shared the team lead through the first round with Biola, the pair each shot a 3-over-par 291 to be ahead of Cal State Los Angeles by just one stroke headed into the second day of action. Carlota Eroles of CSUEB and Madison Murr of Cal State San Marcos also share a lead in individual play, as the two each shot a 4-under-par 68.
