CONFERENCE PLAY PREVIEW
Academy of Art women's soccer will battle in their first away match of the 2024 campaign in two non-conference contests against Pacific West Conference opponents as they'll travel down to compete with Fresno Pacific before returning home to take on Jessup.

KNIGHT WATCH
Sophomore forward Jade Alverio has seven shots with four on target this season for ART U through three games, with both of those being half of the team's totals. Junior forward Danielle Medellin is next up on the squad with three shots, with four others holding one each. Just five Knights have played in all 270 minutes so far, as the team has seen a mass amount of depth in all positions. One of those five is graduate student goalkeeper Nicole Peoples, as she currently leads the Pacific West Conference in saves per game with 9.33 per contest, a whole 3.0 goals ahead of second place. In addition to Peoples' 28 total saves and .824 save percentage, she has already taken home a PacWest Defender of the Week honor on Sept. 9.
SILENCING THE SUNBIRDS
Playing in four matches thus far on the season, the Sunbirds hold a 0-2-2 record headed into their pairing with ART U. The squad's most recent matches with Cal State San Bernardino and Menlo have resulted in 0-0 draws, with Monique Nevarez in net only allowing three scores in their previous two losses. Nevarez has additionally recorded 10 saves on 38 shots faced this season while she has kept the matches close, only having a maximum of a two goal differential between her team and opponent. With the Sunbirds yet to find a score, they have taken 26 shots as a unit this year so far while they've outscored their opponents in two of four matches. Head-to-head, FPU is 13-1-1 all-time against ART U.
JUMP ON IN, JESSUP
Jessup has started 2024 with a 1-3 record in their first PacWest season with an 0:4 goal differential in their three losses to Dominican, Cal State Monterey Bay, and Cal Poly Humboldt, while they took down Cal Maritime 11-0 in their third match of the season. Seven different scorers came in their victory, with Kaylee Gillespie leading the Warriors with three goals and an assist while Kylie Gutierrez and Mackenzie Wright scored two apiece. Celeste Fernandez will be in net for Jessup, as the four goals scored on her have come from a total of 51 shots where she has saved 15 in that timeframe. Dating back to 2010, ART U has a 4-1-1 overall record against the Warriors including a 1-1 record against Jessup last season.
ART U FALLS 2-0 DESPITE PEOPLES' DOUBLE-DIGIT SAVES
Though Academy of Art women's soccer kept Cal Poly Humboldt scoreless in the opening frame on Sept. 14, the Urban Knights dropped a 2-0 result in the Lumberjacks' favor in the last match of their three-part homestand to open their 2024 campaign.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Hawaii trip will soon come after the Knights' next two matches, as ART U will take on the PacWest trio out on the islands starting with UH Hilo then Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific following thereafter.
