Women's Soccer Honors Seniors In Season Finale

SAN FRANCISCO – On a day Academy of Art women's soccer celebrated five seniors prior to their match against No. 20 Point Loma, the Sea Lions were the ones to come out with the Pacific West Conference victory at CCSF Soccer Field as ART U closed the chapter for their 2024 campaign.

Offense was the theme of the afternoon for the Sea Lions, led by a quartet of goal scorers as they each grabbed one apiece. After PLNU racked up a couple of quick scores in the opening minutes, ART U saw themselves looking to get back into it with shots from both sophomore midfielder Ashley Tasev and freshman midfielder Piper Schmidt but both were unable to connect. Point Loma would see the scoreboard once again prior to the conclusion of the half, as their goal in the 27th minute would be the last of the opening frame.

With their last score of the match coming in the 60th minute, the Urban Knights did well to disallow any further damage for the rest of the match keeping PLNU off the scoreboard. Five more shots were struck from ART U including four on target in the second half in total, but once again the Sea Lions and Julia Pinnell held strong to see none of the three from sophomore forward Jade Alverio, and one each from sophomore midfielder Kara Aradottir and freshman midfielder Zeena Grewal get through.

Prior to the match with Point Loma, ART U honored the contributions of five Urban Knights seniors with a pregame ceremony which included midfielder Valeria Perez Rivera, defender Haley Vaughan, defender Halldóra Einarsdóttir, defender Anna Maggi-Brown, and goalkeeper Nicole Peoples. The quintet combined for 314 with Peoples ending the match with five saves.
