Women's Golf Takes Second Place At Sonoma State Invite

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. –
Ranking in second place by the tournament's end was Academy of Art women's golf, as the squad put together a 42-over-par 618 with four players in the top 10, as two were honored with All-Tournament Team awards.

A part of that duo was junior Nicole Yang, who led the way for the Urban Knights throughout the tournament and finished as the team's leader, as she finished in fourth place overall with her 8-over-par 152. The other half of the pair represented in the top five was freshman Isabella Christy, as she was just one stroke behind Yang with a 9-over-par 153, good for fifth place overall.

Not far behind the Knights' leaders was freshman Jannel Calixterio, as she finished tied for sixth place with a 10-over-par 154, her best finish of her young career thus far. Wrapping up the team score for ART U was sophomore Chantel Tsai with a 17-over-par 161, while graduate student Mara Aumund concluded the tournament with a 18-over-par 162.

Avery Foster of Sonoma State ran away with the individual lead in the second round, as her 3-under-par 141 raised her to first place overall, winning the tournament by five strokes. SSU also came away with the team-win, finishing with a 27-over-par 603.

ART U will be back in the fall once more, as they'll compete at the Vanguard Fall Invitational next week, starting on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
