Women's Soccer Watch Warriors Put Away Quick Pair For Win

ROCKLIN, Calif. – A pair of first half Jessup goals proved to be too much for Academy of Art women's soccer in the Pacific West Conference match, as ART U got off five shots but saw none find the net as they fell by a final of 2-0.

The Urban Knights ensured most of their shots had some quality behind them as four of five were on target, struck by four different members of ART U in freshman defender Mia Gonazalez, sophomore forward Katie Correa, senior defender Haley Vaughan, and sophomore forward/midfielder Alanna Del Carlo. Galaxy Mijares and Kaylee Gillespie of the Warriors each scored in the match, and it was a shock to ART U as they were quickly down 2-0 in the 32nd minute after the pair knocked their scores in just 37 seconds apart.

With nine shots total in the closing frame, none would turn out to be a score for either squad as the match resulted with the same first half score of 2-0 in favor of Jessup. Doing all she could in net was graduate student goalkeeper Nicole Peoples as she saved shot shots between the posts, but the quick goals by the Warriors would end up to be the difference.

This ends the road trip for the Knights as they'll return back to their home field this Saturday to square up against Westmont on Nov. 2 as the match will begin with a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
