Valeria Perez RiveraKNIGHT WATCH
Entering the last push of 2024, ART U recently continued their season-long streak of not allowing more than three scores in a Pacific West Conference matchup, always remaining competitive and in the thick of the action. Joining freshman defender Mia Gonzalez on the table is freshman midfielder Piper Schmidt as she knocked one away against Dominican on Oct. 17, while sophomore forward/midfielder Alanna Del Carlo earned her first assist of the season on the play. Assisting the squad at all times, Del Carlo additionally leads the team in minutes played with 1,074 total.

Keeping the pressure up for the offense all season long has been sophomore forward Jade Alverio and junior forward Danielle Medellin with their 25 combined shots, and freshman midfielder Zeena Grewal now joins in the top three on the squad in shots as she now holds eight total. Still holding down the fort guarding between the posts has been graduate student goalkeeper Nicole Peoples as she holds a 2.09 goals against average while saving 81 shots in the campaign.

JUST STOP JESSUP
With three matches left of their campaign and with a 3-10-2 overall and 1-6-1 PacWest record, the Warriors are coming off four straight conference losses, with their most recent contest against Dominican ending with a 2-1 final in the Penguins' favor. Kaylee Gillespie has been the focal point of the offense thus far, as she has put up the team-high in points, goals, assists, shots, and shots on goal. The Warriors do see a wide spread at the top of the formation after Gillespie's dominance as a quartet share six points apiece. Celeste Fernandez and Lille Aimes have seen a bit of a split in net, as Fernandez has seen the most time while the two combine for a 1.40 goals against average, each saving over 30 shots this season. The contest will be the eighth occasion the two teams have met, with an all-time series record set at 4-2-1 in favor of ART U.

WHAT'S UP WARRIORS
On an upward swing more recently has been Westmont as they've gone 4-1 in their last five matches, only dropping a one-goal deficit to Concordia as three of their victories were by a single score as well. Liking to play close, Westmont has seen just one match this season with a goal differential of more than two, as they've gone 6-7-2 overall and 6-2 in conference. With 13 different members of the Warriors earning a point, Amarys Machado leads the squad with 10, as five others have four or more. Ellie Ludwig has seen the most time guarding between the sticks, while Maya Pablos has picked up 270 minutes this season. Sharing similar averages, the two combine for a 1.47 goals against average and .735 save percentage. In the all-time series, Westmont is up a narrow 1-0 as the upcoming contest will be just the second between the squads.

IN THE HUNT AZUSA
Looking to sneak into a playoff spot is Azusa Pacific as they hold a 9-3-1 overall record while being 5-3 in conference play, one spot out of the picture in fifth place in the PacWest. Also winning four of their last five, APU holds a 8-1 goal differential has they recorded shutouts in all four victories, only dropping their match with No. 19 UH Hilo. With 15 members earning a point, the majority of offense comes from Avery Guiel and Jaci Maze, with the latter leading the team in points with 16, as Guiel holds 14. Maze's 16 points comes from all goals, as she holds eight this season, the second-most in the conference. Maddie Williams is having a career year in the goalkeeper position, as her 0.87 goals against average has watched her save 51 shots while giving up with 11 scores on the year. With a larger history compared to the other two opponents, APU has a 9-1-1 record all-time against the Knights.

SEASON-HIGH IN SHOTS ON GOAL NOT ENOUGH TO TAKE DOWN OAKS
Although Academy of Art women's soccer outshot Menlo in both halves on Oct. 26 at SF Glens at Treasure Island Field, Menlo saw their strikes find their way to the back of the net as they took the win with a 2-0 final.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Urban Knights will close out their 2024 regular season with a Senior Day ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 9 at CCSF Soccer Field before they'll compete with Point Loma at 2:30 p.m.
