Season-High In Shots On Goal Not Enough To Take Down Oaks

SAN FRANCISCO – Although Academy of Art women's soccer outshot Menlo in both halves on Saturday at SF Glens at Treasure Island Field, Menlo saw their strikes find their way to the back of the net as they took the win with a 2-0 final.

Playing solid defense for the first third of the match allowing no scores on two shots, the Oaks got one to go in the 32nd minute as Olivia Parlato collected the ball at the top center of the box from the right side of the midfield, and proceeded to score towards over the top of graduate student goalkeeper Nicole Peoples, shooting the gap between her glove and the crossbar. Seeing one additional shot in the first half after the score was from ART U's sophomore midfielder Kara Aradóttir, but Giorgia Melcore was there to defer the danger and enter the half with a 1-0 with her squad.

The 55th minute is when the match saw the first shot and second score of the afternoon, as a penalty kick was scored by Menlo's Haley Dunham. The Urban Knights would get off six of the next seven shots in the match, but Melcore would go on to eventually save her sixth shot of the contest to keep ART U scoreless and keep the two-goal lead. Without much more action towards the end of the match, Menlo would head out with their third win of 2024.

ART U will next head to Jessup to take on the Warriors on Wednesday, Oct. 30 with a 4 p.m. kickoff at Warrior Soccer Field.
