CONTINUING THE HOMESTAND WITH FIRST AWAY MATCH ON HORIZON
Academy of Art men's soccer will host its next two scheduled contests and then take a trip out to the valley, first taking on UC Santa Cruz this Friday and St. Mary's (Tex.) on Sunday before heading over to Stanislaus State to play under the lights on Tuesday.

KICK OFF
Friday's matchup against the Banana Slugs will kick off at 1 p.m. at Paul Goode Field and the same kickoff time remains on Sunday at CCSF Soccer Field against the Rattlers. Tuesday's matchup with the Warriors will be the first away match of the season for the Urban Knights and will be held at Warrior Stadium in Turlock. Remember to follow @ARTU_Knights via the athletics app (Apple App Store, Google Play Store) and on Twitter & Instagram, as well as "Like" the Urban Knights on Facebook for score updates, videos, and recaps.

Kendryx SorianoKNIGHT WATCH
Coming into their next stretch of matches, the Urban Knights are looking to add wins to their record as they continue non-conference play. A student-athlete looking to continue his success is freshman midfielder Joey Glaab, who recently scored two goals in a comeback tie versus Dominican on Sept. 7. The current leader in goals, points, and the only non-goalie to have played all 360 minutes of the season thus far is determined to continue to make his mark as these next matchups commence.

Redshirt sophomore Elvis Mensah, currently tied for second on the squad in points, has been a force for the Knights in the midfield through four matches. Mensah has been everywhere on the pitch and in the thick of the action in his 316 minutes, dodging and weaving through defenders trying to get the offense rolling. Out on the back line is junior defender Chris Stokes who has been a brick wall throughout the season so far and leading the defensive play.

Also having played every minute so far is sophomore goalkeeper Jaiden Brooks who, with a ranking of fourth in the Pacific West Conference in saves per game, currently holds 16 saves total with one shutout performance against Cal State East Bay earlier this season.

SLOWING THE SLUGS
UC Santa Cruz is coming into a match with the Knights with an overall (2-2-0) record, winning their last two matches that were held at their own tournament and scoring at least one goal in four straight. Torin Volkamer and Adrian Jacobs are the leading goal scorers with two each, with Tyler Allred tied with them at four points with his one goal and two assists on the year. Kian Van der Meer has been the only keeper to play for the Slugs so far as he has racked up nine saves while giving up seven goals against. This will be the first match against the Slugs since Oct 14, 2018 and the fourth all-time with UC Santa Cruz ahead 3-0 historically.

WRANGLING THE RATTLERS
With the first ever matchup against No. 20 St. Mary's (Tex.), the Rattlers come to California with a (2-1-1) record following a recent tie and a 2-0 loss played against CSU Pueblo. Cian Foley is the only Rattler to score so far on the season for the squad with four goals on seven shots through their four matches. Andre Schlaefi and Johnny Thurbin have been splitting time in goal, both with 180 minutes through two matches each. St. Mary's is slated to face Cal State East Bay before Sunday's tangle with ART U.

WARDING OFF THE WARRIORS
With a busy upcoming week playing three matches before the Tuesday matchup with the Knights, the Warriors (1-2-0) will host their second of their five-match homestand at the 7 p.m. start time. The Warriors are coming off a 3-2 loss against fellow PacWest team Azusa Pacific on Sept. 7. Only through three matches, the offensive strategy for the Warriors has consisted of the involvement of Edgar Castaneda, Tyler Tipton, and Finn Hoffman with five goals and 23 shots collectively. Robby Rosas has been the only Warrior in goal through three games, collecting 13 saves with six goals against so far this season. Through six meetings with the Warriors, the Urban Knights have gone 1-3-2 and the two teams will meet for the first time since Sept. 12, 2021.

OTTERS' OFFENSE LEADS TO VICTORY OVER ACADEMY OF ART
It was tough for Academy of Art men's soccer to keep up with the offense from Cal State Monterey Bay during their non-conference showdown on Sept. 11, as CSUMB would walk away with the victory, with a final score of 7-0.

LOOKING AHEAD
PacWest play will begin after one last non-conference matchup at Jessup on Sept. 22, and soon after the Knights will host UH Hilo on Sept. 25 at Paul Goode Field.
