Weather Halts, Postpones Baseball's Games With Simpson

Box Score OAKLAND, Calif. – Past the halfway mark in the opening contest when inclement weather forced an abrupt stop to the action, Sunday's doubleheader between Academy of Art baseball and Simpson was halted with plans to resume at a later point in the season.

A cold, windy, and often rainy day at Laney College began with first pitch being tossed at 12:34 p.m. before ART U struck first with two runs in the opening inning. Simpson would respond with five in the second and the contest reached the fourth before a brief 10-minute rain delay. Amid the tough conditions, the Urban Knights rallied for one in the fifth, but a lengthier stoppage just before the bottom of the inning at 2:20 p.m. would turn into the official call to halt the game with the Red Hawks leading 5-3.

No makeup date for the halted contest nor the second half of today's doubleheader (seven-inning game) has yet to be announced.
