Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hampton Has Career Day In Women's Soccer Match Across Bay

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – A quick start by Dominican would produce a lead they'd hold for the duration of the match, as Academy of Art would drop their contest against the Penguins with a 3-0 final score.

The Penguins came out firing against the Urban Knights, launching five shots in the first 15 minutes that turned into a pair of goals from Dominican's Caitlyn Garrison and Bella Bueno. Redshirt junior defender Katie Williams would get a shot off in the final of the first half, but it would go wide of the post for the Penguins to maintain their 2-0 lead as they went into the break.

Dominican's final goal would come in the 78th minute, with a shot off the boot from Jackie Lancaster. Freshman defender/forward Jade Alverio would shoot towards the net less than two minutes later, but the Penguins' goalkeeper would collect the shot in for her only save of the day.

Freshman goalkeeper Kayla Hampton recorded her season-high and career best saves total, as she racked up 14 throughout the match. Hampton ranks first place within the Pacific West Conference in saves per game, sitting at the top of the leaderboard with her 7.75 average.

Academy of Art women's soccer will finish off their season with a Southern California road trip, heading down the coast to start it off against Westmont on Oct. 30, with Point Loma and Biola following thereafter.
