2022 USF Invitational Results
SAN FRANCISCO – Competing in its home city to start the year, Academy of Art cross country battled numerous NCAA Division I opponents in the USF Invitational on Saturday morning at Golden Gate Park. The No. 30 women's team, in action for the first time since reaching NCAA DII Nationals in 2021, finished ninth led by freshman
Lisa Redlinger in 36th overall while the men took 14th paced by senior
Hudson Lockette in 67th.
Redlinger's first collegiate 6k race saw her finish as the top freshman among NCAA DII institutions with a time of 22:43.7. She, along with junior
Delanie Dykes (22:58.6) in 45th and redshirt senior
Audrey Rosencrans (23:10.0) in 50th, were all inside the top 50 overall and top 40 among runners counting toward their respective team scores. Both Dykes and Rosencrans significantly bettered their initial times in the 2021 USF Invite with the former coming through 30 seconds faster and the latter taking an entire minute off her previous mark. The Urban Knights quintet was rounded out by sophomore
Lina Hanich (23:58.0) in 70th and freshman
María Martín (24:05.1) not far behind in 72nd.
As a team, the ART U women claimed ninth overall (1:56:55) back just behind Cal State East Bay (1:54:23) and Cal (1:54:39) while ahead of UC Santa Cruz (2:01:45) and San Jose State (2:16:16). Stanford captured the top spot (1:45:39) with Riley Stewart (20:48.6) and Lucy Jenks (20:58.8) going first and second individually.
Crossing the 8k finish line with a time of 26:52.1, Lockette took 67th on the men's side though he was 55th among runners counting toward their respective team scores. His mark was nearly a 40-second improvement from his 2021 debut and freshman
Conrad Heinemann was not far off his teammate at 27:10.0 in 79th overall. The trio completing ART U's top five was separated by less than 45 seconds with graduate student
Owen Day (28:10.6) in 99th, freshman
Vaughn Lacour (28:22.8) in 103rd, and redshirt freshman
Jaden Singleton (28:54.8) in 107th.
Collectively, the Academy of Art men's team finished 14th overall (21:19:30) and less than a minute behind San Jose State. Stanford (2:07:04) edged Cal (2:07:37) for the team victory, but it was Santa Clara's Alex Miley (24:56.7) who placed first overall.
In two weeks on Sept. 17, the Urban Knights will return to action in the UC Riverside Invitational.
