DALY CITY, Calif. – Academy of Art women's tennis started the season 1-0 at home after confidently defeating Holy Names 7-0 at Bay Club SF Tennis on Friday.

Winning by default in the third position, the Urban Knights were halfway to the doubles point to start and sophomore Viktoria Leth combined with freshman Erica Hellbe to secure it with their 6-2 victory over Ella Lavender and Lucy Rekasch in the second spot.

ART U moved up 3-0 with two more defaults in singles and essentially had the match won on wins for Leth and freshman Paulina Alvarez that saw each allow just one game to their respective opponents. To finish off the sweep, straight-set triumphs for sophomore Yun "Nicole" Shiau (6-4, 6-2) and Hellbe (6-2, 6-4) came in the top two positions to help the Knights rise to 2-2 while HNU dropped to 1-2.

For its second match of the week, Academy of Art faces UC Santa Cruz on the road this Sunday, Feb. 20 at noon.
