2021 NCAA DII National Championship (Second Round)
DEARBORN, Mich. – Thanks to a 1-over-par 73 during her second round, Academy of Art women's golf junior
Anahi Servin jumped seven spots and into a tie for 16th place at the NCAA DII National Championship from TPC Michigan.
"Anahi put herself in good position to have a strong round tomorrow and finish as an All-American again this year," said Head Coach
Mitch Lowe. "She is very close to having really great scores so hopefully that can happen tomorrow for her. Either way though she has shown that she can compete with the nation's best golfers."
At a combined 6-over-par 150 and looking to make it into the top 10 to be named an All-American, Servin is just seven strokes off of co-leaders Pilar Echeverria from the University of Indianapolis and Helen Kreuzer from Lynn (2-under-par). Beginning her day on the first hole, Servin would save par until she notched her first birdie on hole five, but would immediately drop the stroke back after a bogey on the sixth. Three consecutive pars would end her front nine as she made the turn at even-par, and after a par to open her back nine, she would collect a bogey on 11 before coming back for a birdie on 12. After another three saves for par, Servin would have an up-and-down end to her round as a birdie on the 17th hole was sandwiched by bogeys on holes 16 and 18.
The field remains crowded around Servin, as 15 players are separated by just four strokes (from 3-over to 7-over) outside of the top four players on the leaderboard. Much like she's done all year, Serivn is taking advantage of the par-5s on the course, as she is a combined 1-under-par (4.88 stroke average) on such holes, and now has a total of five birdies through two rounds.
The third and final round for Servin at the NCAA DII National Championship will tee off on Thursday at 9:11 a.m. ET.
