Anahi Servin In Top Half Of Field After Nationals Round One

2021 NCAA DII National Championship (Round One)

DEARBORN, Mich. –
Sitting toward the front of the pack after the opening round of the NCAA Division II National Championship, Academy of Art women's golf junior Anahi Servin rests in a tie for 23rd place after she carded a 5-over-par 77 to open the tournament at TPC Michigan.

"Anahi played much better than her score showed," said ART U Head Coach Mitch Lowe. "[It was] a little bit of a slow start, but with 36 holes left, I am confident she will move her way up the leaderboard."

Representing the Pacific West Conference as the the only PacWest golfer to make it to nationals, Servin began her round on the back nine as she teed off on the 10th hole. Cruising through the first six holes while saving par, the junior would drop birdies on 16 and 17 to be in a good position as she made the turn to the front nine. Unfortunately, Servin would run into a double bogey on the 18th hole, dropping back to even. After a par on the first hole, Servin would bogey holes two and five, while ending her round with three consecutive bogeys starting on hole seven.

Positioning herself to make a move in round two, Servin is just seven shots behind individual leader Camila Madariaga of Lynn University (2-under-par 70). However, Servin is deadlocked amongst a group of 21 golfers who are separated by just five strokes (1-over-par to 6-over-par).

Servin will tee off for her second round of the NCAA DII National Championships on Tuesday at 12:25 p.m. ET on hole one.
