SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Academy of Art women's golf ended round one of the Sonoma State Spring Invitational in second place thanks to a strong showing from junior
Anahi Servin, helping to power the squad to 9-over-par 297 at the Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club, just five strokes behind host and leader Sonoma State. In the individual portion, Servin concluded day one in second place after carding a 3-under-par 69.
Looking for her fourth tournament victory of the season after
coming in first at the Academy of Art Invitational, Servin is just two strokes back of leader Lexi Nielsen of Sonoma State (5-under-par 67) thanks to four birdies on the back nine, tied for second most birdies in the round. Servin is the first of three Urban Knights currently slotted in the top-15, with freshman
Napat "Plern" Rattanaprakarn tying for 10th at 3-over-par 75 while junior
Iveta Posledni checks in just behind in a tie for 12th at 4-over-par 76. Rounding out the scoring for ART U was freshman
Valeria Ruiz, tying for 16th place after turning in a 5-over-par 77. Ruiz was one of three players on the day to record an eagle, doing so on the fifth hole and helping the Urban Knights to the best par-5 team score in the round (6-under-par).
The final round of the Sonoma State Spring Invitational from the Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club will commence on Tuesday morning.
