NCAA Division II National Championships Round Two Results
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Sophomore
Anahi Servin took over first place at the NCAA National Championships with a superb second round effort, shooting a 2-under-par 71, Wednesday afternoon at the PGA National Resort. Servin jumped five spots and will enter the final round tied for first with Jaime Jacob of Cal State San Marcos with a cumulative 2-under-par 144.
"[Anahi] is just flat out playing good golf right now," said head coach
Mitch Lowe. "She has great rhythm in her golf swing and she's thinking well around the golf course. It's all a lot of good stuff going on right now."
Servin started strong with two birdies and a 1-under-par score through the front nine. After a par on the 10th the sophomore out of Asuncion, Paraguay captured an eagle on the par-5 11th. A pair of pars and a birdie later, Servin was down to a sensational 4-under-par through 14 holes. Two bogeys on the final four holes lifted her score to 2-under-par 71, but it was still enough to shoot her up to first place on the leaderboard.
"Tomorrow obviously might be a little more pressure," said Lowe. "The final round being in the lead, but she seems to be in a good place right now and on form so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens tomorrow."
Servin will look to make history and capture the first national title in Academy of Art women's golf history, tomorrow in the final round of the NCAA Division II National Championship.
