ART U FACES APU IN FINAL HOME SET

Academy of Art returns from a brief road trip to take on No. 13 Azusa Pacific in their final home series of the season and penultimate PacWest series that will conclude on senior day.

FIRST PITCH
ART U faces APU Thursday, April 18 at 7 p.m. at Laney College, Friday at noon and 3 p.m. at College of Alameda, and Saturday at noon back at Laney College on senior day. Prior to Saturday's game a brief ceremony will be held to celebrate and honor the 12 seniors for their hard work and dedication. ART U branded hats will be given away for free while supplies last and fan buses will leave 620 Sutter St. at 11:15 a.m. Remember to follow @ARTU_Knights via the athletics app (Apple App Store, Google Play Store) and on Twitter & Instagram as well as "Like" the Urban Knights on Facebook for score updates, videos, and recaps.

19600KNIGHT WATCH
A trio of Urban Knights are closing in on single season and career records. Senior second baseman Elijah Smith has his sights set on the all-time triples record. Smith picked up his ninth career triple on April 13 against Biola and needs just two more to break the record set by Stefen Henderson in 2013. Senior catcher Zak May is eyeing the runs batted in record and put a dent in it this past series with four total runs batted in, including a three RBI day in game two. May is up to 24 RBI this season and needs four more to break the mark (27) set by Zach Babitt in 2011. Junior outfielder Thomas Delgadillo is knocking on the door of the single seasons hit record. Delgadillo's 53 hits are just seven short from breaking Joseph Marchini's record (59) set in 2015 and he still has 12 games to play. His 53 hits are accompanied by his PacWest leading .417 batting average which would blow the previous best single season ART U average of .351 out of the water.

APU ABOVE THE REST
Azusa Pacific is 27-10 overall and in first place in the PacWest with a 17-3 conference record. The Cougars started the season with a split 1-1 series against Cal State Monterey Bay before winning their first series, taking two of three from Stanislaus State. APU concluded non-conference by winning three of four versus Colorado Christian and went into PacWest play on a three game winning streak. In a shocking upset, Holy Names defeated No. 13 APU in game one 4-6. The Cougars would go on to split their first conference series. Two non-conference sets against PacWest opponents came next as the Cougars took three of four from Concordia and dropped three of four to Point Loma. APU went on a tear following the series loss and swept back to back PacWest series against Hawaii Pacific and UH Hilo. Two wins against Biola sent their winning streak to 10 before BU snapped it in game three, although APU won the final game of the set. Most recently, the Cougars swept Concordia and come into their game with the Urban Knights on a five game winning streak. APU leads the conference in important statistical categories including, batting average at .322, home runs with 61, which is 24 more than the second highest team, and earned run average (3.48). The offense is led by Osvaldo Tovalin who is second in batting average (.415), third in home runs (12), and fourth in runs batted in (36) in the PacWest. The Cougars are 22-2 against Academy of Art all-time.

KNIGHTS DROP SERIES FINALE
