A WEEK OF FIRSTS

After their first match of the regular season in the bay, Academy of Art Women's soccer will depart on their first road-trip of the year to face off against Saint Martin's and Western Oregon. Following the trip the team will return to San Francisco for their first home game of the year versus William Jessup. 

KICKOFF
ART U starts their road-trip with Saint Martin's on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 12:30 p.m. The Urban Knights will continue the trip against Western Oregon Saturday Sept. 8 at 11:30 a.m. Following the weekend Academy of Art will host William Jessup on Tuesday Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. Live coverage will be available via the links above. KNIGHT WATCH
18605Sophomore goalkeeper Laura Pflicke is your Knight to watch, as she looks to continue her scoreless season. Pflicke collected four saves over 45 minutes and was the only ART U goalkeeper to not allow a goal.  

IMMACULATE SAINTS
Currently a perfect 2-0, Saint Martin's looks to continue their undefeated season. The Saints cruised through both games, first defeating Corban University 3-1, then dominating Northwest Christian University 4-0. Kiersten Madsen is the Saints leading point scorer with two goals and an assist. This will be the first time the Saints and Urban Knights have met.

WOLVES KEEP IT CLOSE
Western Oregon has played two very close matches to open their 2018 season. The first game WOU took an overtime loss to Cal State San Marcos 1-0. The most recent game the Wolves have played, versus Cal State University Dominguez Hills, ended in a 1-0 victory. Isabelle Creighton is the Wolves leading point scorer with two points off a goal. This will be the first time Western Oregon and Academy of Art have met.

WARRIORS BREAK EVEN
William Jessup opened the year with an even 2-2 record. Most recently the Warriors took a 3-1 loss to the Oregon Institute of Technology. WJU will play one more match before ART U, taking on Simpson University Sept. 7. The Warriors leading scorer is Janelle Schuette who has collected three goals and a single assist. Academy of Art has yet to take a loss from WJU boasting a 1-0-1 record. In the teams latest meeting ART U defeated the Warriors in overtime by a score of 3-2.

Early Offense Puts Pioneers Past Knights on Opening Day
Under the lights at Pioneer Field on Thursday, Academy of Art University women's soccer began its 2018 season with a tough matchup against Cal State East Bay. The Urban Knights would hold the Pioneers scoreless for 61 consecutive minutes, but it came after early offense from the home team which led to the 3-0 triumph for CSUEB.

LOOKING AHEAD
Following the Knights first road-trip and home game, Academy of Art will finish their non-conference schedule with Mills College Sept. 13 and California Maritime Sept. 15.
