PacWest Conference Track & Field Weekly Awards (Apr. 25)

IRVINE, Calif. – After excelling in the 1500m at Stanford's Cardinal Classic, Gatien Airiau has been named Pacific West Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week. The awards were based on competition from Apr. 16-22.

In just his second time contesting the event this season, Airiau unleashed not only a personal record, but also a NCAA Nationals provisional qualifier with his 3:47.87 mark. He finished third overall in the race that featured 10 other runners from various NCAA Division I institutions including Alabama, UC Berkeley, and Stanford.

Already with an automatic qualification in the 3000m steeplechase, Airiau is currently ranked 15th in NCAA Division II in the 1500m.

After earning a PacWest weekly honor on Apr. 4, this is Airiau's second award for track & field this season and the third in his career.
