2016-17 Academic All-PacWest Team
IRVINE, Calif. – A total of 94 Academy of Art University student-athletes were named 2016-17 Academic All-Pacific West Conference in an announcement by the conference media relations office on Monday. Based on performances in the classroom over their cumulative collegiate career, 1,690 athletes from the conference's 14 member institutions earned the distinction.
All student-athletes chosen for the Academic All-PacWest honor met a set of specific criteria including a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, must have completed two academic semesters at the institution, and must have competed in at least one regular season game/competition.
Award winners were represented by each of Academy of Art's 14 sports which are sponsored by the PacWest Conference. For the fifth consecutive year, women's soccer led the way with 15 representatives while men's soccer followed with 10 members of their own. Other notable programs included softball (9) and men's basketball (8).
"I'm extremely proud of the hard work and dedication that our coaches and student-athletes have put forth," said Assistant Athletics Director of Academics & Admissions Liaison
Cole Wilson. "This is the fourth consecutive semester that we have achieved the 3.0 GPA mark as an athletic department and we are really working diligently with all of our current and incoming student-athletes."

The PacWest is now scheduled to choose a Scholar-Athlete of the Year for each of its 15 sports. Institutions have been presented with an opportunity to nominate one student-athlete from each of its athletic programs and these individual winners will be announced on Tuesday, June 27.
