Competing in three locations ranging from the Bay Area to Southern California, Academy of Art University track & field put forth multiple NCAA Division II Nationals provisional marks once again on Friday.
TORRANCE, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Relays at Murdock Stadium on the campus of El Camino College were particularly memorable for the men's 4x400m relay team (which included
Mobolade Ajomale and
Quinlan Wright),
Pierre Fontanarosa,
Mistic Scott, and
Marion Presigny.
Michael Houston, Wright,
Christian Carter, and Ajomale combined for the third-fastest time in ART U history with a 3:12.04 time that rockets them up to fifth in the country. They finished third of 15 teams amid Division I programs such as Boise State and Iowa for the NCAA provisional.
Ajomale and Wright each shined in individual events as well. In the 200m, Ajomale improved upon his time which was already second in the country. He would drop down to 20.85 for another season best. Wright put forth his own top mark thus far in 2017 with a 53.12 in the 110m hurdles, rising to 15th in the nation.
Fontanarosa finished out the day's action with a strong showing in the 5000m. He would move up to top 25 in Division II with a time of 14:27.94, a NCAA provisional and personal best by more than three seconds.
On the women's side, Scott continued to just get faster in the 400m. She would drop a personal best of 55.15 for ninth of 44 in the event. The senior moves into the country's top 10 with that effort.
Presigny, who competed in two different locations on the day, offered her first NCAA Nationals provisional in the 100m hurdles with a season-best time of 14.25 that put her 15th of 43 in the event.
AZUSA, Calif. – Among the highlights on the final day of the Bryan Clay Invitational out at Cougar Stadium was Presigny's 400m hurdles.
The Fashion Journalism major dropped a new personal best in the event, going 1:00.92 for what is now top 15 in the country. She was ninth out of 68 hurdlers on Friday and remains fourth all-time in Academy of Art program history.
HAYWARD, Calif. – At the Cal State East Bay Invitational, members of the ART U distance crew were in action and it was
McKaela Christenson who led a trio of Urban Knights in the 10,000m run.
Academy of Art will resume both the Mt. SAC Relays and CSUEB Invitational tomorrow and add the Long Beach State Beach Invitational as well.
