SAN FRANCISCO – Despite the final result, the Urban Knights (4-14, 2-10 PacWest) played an intensive two halves in Wednesday's 85-54 loss to the first-place Concordia Eagles (17-3, 10-2 PacWest).
Â
Both teams' defenses were in full force to begin the game, with neither side reaching double-digit point totals until five minutes had already expired in the first period. The Eagles' defense was particularly potent, holding ART U to an overall 36.4 field goal percentage, and a 25.0 percent average from beyond the arc.
Â
Concordia's offense played a big factor as well, shooting 43.8 percent from the field, while four players finished in double-digit figures. The Eagles also went on a few runs in the first half, including an 11-1 period between 12:15 and 8:36 that gave Concordia a 29-14 advantage.
Â
The Urban Knights would go on a 10-4 run of their own in the final minutes of the opening half, highlighted by redshirt junior guard
Sergio Valdeolmillos' four points.
Â
The second half held a similar story with Academy of Art being outscored 19-7 in the opening 12 minutes, but they managed to close out the game with another 10-4 run.
