Box Score 2 FRESNO, Calif. — Big first innings in both games Saturday helped propel Fresno Pacific to 10-4 and 12-0 wins in a Pacific West Conference doubleheader sweep over the Academy of Art University baseball team at FPU Diamond.

The Sunbirds (24-12, 12-12 PacWest) scored three runs in the bottom of the first of game one and five runs in the bottom of the first of game two to hold leads of 3-0 and 5-0 in each game before the Urban Knights (6-31, 4-20 PacWest) had their second chance at bat. FPU scored multiple runs in six of 16 innings played Saturday en route to scoring 22 total runs on 21 hits. They hit three home runs on the day, including two from Preston Scott.

Daniel Skinner had hits in both games for Academy of Art. Junior center fielder
Joseph Marchini posted his 10th multi-hit game in his last 15 contests during the nightcap, going 2-for-4.

GAME ONEÂ
Fresno Pacific went up 4-0 through two innings thanks to a three-run home run by Scott in the first and an RBI single by Baron Bower in the second. Academy of Art cut the deficit in half with single runs in the third and fourth. Skinner scored the Knights' first run on an RBI groundout by Marchini, then drove in their second with an infield single.

FPU pushed its lead to 6-2 in the fifth with another home run, this time from Michael Tittle. It would break the game open in the bottom of the eighth with four runs to go up 10-3. FPU's 3-4-5 hitters had seven RBIs in game one and scored four runs with two home runs.

Chucky Cavestany both had hits and scored runs. FPU starter Eian Raeber earned the victory with four strikeouts and two earned runs in eight innings pitched.

GAME TWOÂ
Academy of Art's 1-2-3 hitters were 5-for-11 in the nightcap, including Marchini's multi-hit showing. Junior left fielder
Greg Ivory went 2-for-4 and Skinner collected his third hit of the day, going 1-for-3.

But Fresno Pacific went up 5-0 in the first inning with five unearned runs. The Sunbirds would push their lead to 9-0 in the second inning, 11-0 after the third and 12-0 by the fourth. All nine FPU starters had at least one hit and eight different players drove in runs.

Jake Martinez earned the win for FPU with five scoreless innings, striking out five. Sophomore relief pitcher
Josh Lopez allowed just one run and tallied a strikeout in three innings of relief.

The Urban Knights next travel across town to San Francisco State on Tuesday for a non-conference game against the Gators.
