2015 Super San Diego Women's Collegiate Championship Final Results

SAN DIEGO — A third-place team showing and three top-15 individual finishes highlighted the Academy of Art University women's golf team's first competition of the 2015 spring season at the Super San Diego Women's Collegiate Championship hosted by Point Loma at the Riverwalk Golf Course.
 
Day two was tougher for the Urban Knights than day one, but they weren't the only ones. Four of the top-five finishing teams saw increases in their team score Tuesday from Monday's first round. ART U shot a 323 to finish in a tie for third (632) with Pacific West Conference rival Dixie State, who shot identical scores with Academy of Art of 309 and 323 during the two-day tournament. California Baptist won the team title with a two-day total of 613 (302, 311).
 
"San Diego was a great sot to begin the competitive spring season," said Academy of Art head coach Elaine Harris. "We played well in our first round but we need to work on starting stronger and working on our short games."
 
Freshman Shu-lin Lin was Academy of Art's top individual finisher, tying for fifth place at 8-over after shooting 77 (+5) Tuesday. Sophomore Crystal Wang also shot 77 Tuesday and finished eighth. Sophomore Roxanne Matta shot an 11-over 83 after a 3-over 75 Monday to finish 14-over for the tournament and in a tie for 15th place.
 
Freshman Sterling Hawkins came in 48th after an 86 Tuesday and sophomore Gabriela Rosales finished 65th after back-to-back rounds of 88. The Urban Knights finished ahead of four other PacWest teams in host PLNU (t-6th, 639), Hawaii Pacific (12th, 684), Dominican University of California (14th, 699) and Holy Names (15th, 762).
 
"Overall we beat some teams that beat us last fall and I am looking forward to the next tournament," said Harris.
 
Academy of Art next travels back to Southern California on Feb. 23-24 for the CBU Women's Invitaitonal hosted by Cal Baptist at the Victoria Golf Course in Riverside, Calif.
