Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

ART U falls 4-2 After Two Final Minute Goals

Two goals in the final ten give Concordia a 4-2 win over Urban Knights.

Thursday's ART U Men's Soccer match vs Concordia was a tale of two halves. The first half featured two evenly matched teams who nearly went shot-for-shot: the Urban Knights had eight and the Eagles had 7. In fact, the first goal wasn't recorded until the 42nd minute when Concordia's Gordon Connor scored when a well-placed corner kick found its way to his feet.

The second half was full of offense. Academy of Art had 15 shots and Concordia shot 12 times. The Urban Knights were quick to equalize the score as freshman defender Bobby Gutierrez scored his first collegiate goal in the 50th minute on an unassisted score into the far side of the net. It was not until the 61st minute that the Eagles would respond with another goal from Conner, making the score 2-1. However, just 11 seconds later, ART U senior forward Kristof Urbanyi dribbled down the field and placed a beautiful goal from 25 yards out above Jordan Brinkley's (GK) outstretched hands. The score remained knotted for another 20 minutes, making it seem as if overtime was inevitably on its way. However, Concordia's Isaac Gettis scored on two quick shots in the 87th and 88th minutes, giving the Eagles (now 6-9-1, 6-5-01) a 4-2 final score.

Urbanyi was ART U's (now 7-8-2, 5-6-1 PacWest) biggest offensive weapon on Thursday, notching 11 shots, five on goal, and a goal itself. For Concordia, Isaac Gattis was a standout with two goals and three shots.
