LIVE STATSÂ
San Francisco, CA — It has been more than 195 minutes of soccer since the Academy of Art University men's soccer team allowed a goal, and the Urban Knights will be looking to extend that streak even further in their first PacWest Conference road match of the season when they travel to Fresno to take on Fresno Pacific at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The Urban Knights (4-5, 2-1 PacWest) have earned back-to-back shutout victories since losing their PacWest opener to Hawaii Pacific on Sept. 25, outscoring opponents 5-0 in the process. Earning another clean sheet at Fresno Pacific's Ramirez Field won't be easy, as the Sunbirds (6-2, 4-1 PacWest) have outscored opponents 18-9 there this season while posting a 5-1 record.
Â
ABOUT FRESNO PACIFICThe Sunbirds (6-2, 4-1 PacWest) had their four-game winning streak snapped Saturday in a 4-3 setback at Notre Dame de Namur. FPU has still won its last three home games by a combined margin of 10-2, all against PacWest opponents.
Â

ANYTHING YOU CAN DO…After freshman goalkeeper
Alejandro Escobedo earned his second shutout victory of the season on Sept. 27, senior net-minder
Joshua Leader stepped up and showed he could do that, too. Leader held Dominican (Calif.) scoreless for 90 minutes on Saturday to follow up Escobedo's shutout and give the Knights their second straight win. Both 'keepers have been helped by strong play on the defensive line, a line that features two starting freshmen in
Sam McKay and
Connor Henrichs.
Â
HOT FOOTAfter not scoring at all in the Urban Knights' first seven matches of 2014, junior Jay Eldon has now scored three times in the last two games. Eldon tacked on an insurance goal Saturday against Dominican (Calif.) with 27 seconds left to play, giving ART U a 2-0 victory. The week before, Eldon found the net twice to lead the Urban Knights to a 3-0 win over Hawaii-Hilo.
