Box Score Riverside, CA — Lindsey Vesling scored three goals in less than 10 minutes in the first half and gave Cal Baptist an insurmountable lead, as the Lancers defeated the Academy of Art University women's soccer team 5-0 Thursday at Lancer Soccer Field.

The win was the Lancers' (7-4-1, 5-0-1 PacWest) second in a row and extended their unbeaten streak to six games, keeping them near the top of the PacWest standings. It was the Urban Knights' (1-9-1, 1-4 PacWest) second consecutive shutout loss and fourth straight defeat overall.

Vesling's first goal came in the 17th minute from the top of the box off a through pass from Kimberly Allard. 104 seconds later Vesling and Allard connected again to make it 2-0 Lancers. Allard sent a long cross into the box and Allard came slicing across the box to head the ball in. Vesling made it a first half hat trick in the 27th minute when she took a through pass from Kailey Nishimura and scored her third goal of the game from 10 yards out to push the lead to 3-0.

CBU won the shots battle 21-4, outshooting ART U 14-1 in the first half alone. Cal Baptist goalkeeper Sara Escobedo made two saves for the shutout win, and Academy of Art netminder
Rachael Rempe made five stops in goal.

The Lancers tacked onto their lead in the second half with goals in the 62nd and 86th minutes. Audrianna DeGraw scored her third goal of the year when she beat the ART U defense on a through pass from Justene Kesterson to make it 4-0. Tambrie Awai also joined the scoring when she tapped in the ball for a goal off of a free kick from Alina Broton.

Academy of Art travels farther south to San Diego to take on Point Loma Nazarene at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
