San Francisco, CA — The Academy of Art University women's soccer team will look to get back on the winning track this week when it heads to Southern California for two Pacific West Conference games at Cal Baptist and Point Loma Nazarene Thursday and Saturday, respectively.

The Urban Knights (1-8-1, 1-3 PacWest) suffered their first shutout defeat in three weeks Thursday at Fresno Pacific, who won their fourth match in a row and extended their unbeaten streak to five games. The loss was ART U's third in a row and snapped its streak of scoring at least one goal in three straight contests.

ART U will be faced with two more hot teams this week. Cal Baptist is on a five-game unbeaten streak that includes four wins, and Point Loma Nazarene has won six games in a row dating to Sept. 20.

ABOUT CAL BAPTIST
The Lancers (6-4-1, 4-0-1 PacWest) have yet to lose in PacWest play after running off three straight wins to begin the conference campaign, then tying with Hawaii-Hilo last week before defeating Hawaii Pacific Saturday. Both of CBU's games last week went into overtime, while during its three-game winning streak to open PacWest play the team outscored opponents 10-3.

Seven different players have scored at least two goals this season for the Lancers, including three who share the team lead in goals scored with three each. Justene Kesterson leads the team with nine points (3 goals, 3 assists). Sara Escobedo has shouldered the goalkeeping load for CBU the entire season, logging over 1,040 minutes and making 49 saves while holding opponents to a 1.21 goals against average.

ABOUT POINT LOMA NAZARENE
The Sea Lions (7-2, 6-0 PacWest) sit alone atop the PacWest Conference standings with 18 points and an unblemished 6-0 conference mark. The team has won six games in a row, four by one goal and four by shutout, including its last three straight. PLNU has not surrendered a goal in over 304 minutes of game play.

The Sea Lions have seen goals from nine different players this season, though none has scored more than two. Shelby Murphy leads the team with five points (2 goals, 1 assist) while Easton Kawawaki has taken a team-high 20 shots, eight on goal. Ariel Oriarte has four shutouts this season and has limited opponents to a 0.27 goals against average in 672:25 of playing time with 22 saves.

STEPPING UP
Despite never playing a minute of soccer as a collegiate goalkeeper, Mikayla Martig stepped into the goalkeeper box Thursday at Fresno Pacific and made seven saves in 90 minutes. Martig was playing in place of an injured Rachael Rempe and traded in her No. 11 jersey for an alternate-color 'keeper jersey to fill the Knights' need.
