KNIGHT WATCH
Academy of Art's lone goal this year came off the foot of junior Frederik Nagel who had one goal in 2012. Nagel tied the season opener against Humboldt State which would eventually be decided in overtime. Itching for an opportunity to find the net are the rest of the Urban Knights as 12 of the team's top 13 point scorers remain on the roster this season. In goal, junior Joshua Leader has started both contests thus far with eight saves in just over 183 minutes.

SAINTS COME MARCHING IN
Like ART U, Saint Martin's is still in search of its first victory of 2013. The Saints, who come off a 3-15 season that ended with four consecutive defeats, began the season with a 2-0 loss to Chico State and then fell 6-1 to #21 Cal State Los Angeles to begin a three-part roadtrip to California. Dylan Gaydosh, SMU's leading goal scorer in 2012 and All-GNAC Team, has the team's lone goal thus far and Emil Kirov offers the assist on that score. Both JJ Olson and Eric Owen have seen time in net for Saint Martin's in the two matches with Olson making both starts and registering six saves in 135 minutes.

SEEING RED… HAWKS
It has been a challenging start to the 2013 season for Simpson University who enters its match with Marymount (Sept. 12) sporting a 0-5 record overall. A 5-0 loss to Corban opened the year followed by a 2-0 loss to SOKA and 6-0 defeat at the hands of Bethesda. More recently, the Red Hawks were downed by Arizona Christian 7-0 and Embry-Riddle 4-0 in their second California Pacific Conference match. Though without a goal thus far, SU looks to rely on Jordan Daigre, tied for the team lead in goals in 2012, to make an impact this season. Defensively, Justin Webb has handled all 450 minutes as goalkeeper and has 49 saves.

MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO OTTERS IN SECOND PERIOD
Taking on their second CCAA opponent in three days, ART U Men's Soccer played a close first period on the road against Cal State Monterey Bay, but the Otters ended up finding the net twice in the second half to win 2-0.

"Watching the game from the bench it was very encouraging," head coach Mike Keller said. "We had long spells of complete control of the game and just seemed to be missing that final pass or run into the box.  I'm really encouraged by the progress made and the effort from the guys. We'll look to keep improving at a high rate and are looking forward to getting back on the field Thursday."

LOOKING AHEAD
This Saturday brings the conclusion of this early stretch of non-conference play as Academy of Art will face off against California Baptist on Thursday, Sept. 19 back at Crocker Amazon Park for an 11:00 AM kickoff. The Saturday that follows (Sept. 21) will feature the Knights and Azusa Pacific facing off at City College of San Francisco at 2:30 PM after the women's match.
