San Francisco, CA -- In their 2013 season finale, the Academy of Art University women's soccer team honored their seniors but were unable to send them off victorious, falling to Fresno Pacific 2-0. The Knights battles for all 90 minutes and got all three seniors significant time on the field, but a goal in each half by the Sunbirds gave hem an advantage that the Knights were not able to overcome.

The Urban Knights opened up the offense with a shot by Rea Laudat in the the sixth minute, but it went wide. Six minutes later, Fresno Pacific got on the board, as they had a takeaway and then a two on one in tube box, with Kelly Nikkel providing a touch pass for Amanda Hudec, who shot it from 10 yards to the left corner to make it a 1-0 game. ART U continued to shoot, getting attempts from Lou Fillingham, Laudat again, Beth Barker, and Sophie Meneses, but at halftime the score was still the same.

In the second half, The Knights again had the first shot, as Mariandrea Otero Molano took a shot that was blocked. Meneses had another shot go high, and then Miranda Corneliussen took one that was just wide. Yet in the 57th minute, the same scorers from the first half struck again, as Nikkel passed it to the top right corner of the box, setting up Hudec for her second goal of the day. ART U had their chances, getting a pair of corner kicks in the second half and six shots, including one by Barker as the buzzer sounded, but the senior and second-leading scorer in program history couldn't find the back of the net as the Knights fell in regulation.

"I am very proud of my Urban Knights," said head coach Aileen Nasypany. "They battled until the final whistle today on our home pitch in honor of our seniors Beth, Hannah, and Jasmin. We had a some golden opportunities right in front of the net that could of made the scoreline closer as well. Nonetheless, the team played well as a unit with good possession and sacrificing defense, which are great building blocks for us to move forward together on."
