Game #10
ART U Urban Knights (2-6, 0-4 PWC) vs. Holy Names Hawks (1-7, 0-5 PWC)
Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 3:00 PM
San Francisco, CA -- City College of San Francisco

ON THE APPROACH
The Urban Knights snapped out of their scoring slump last week, scoring three times against Dixie and putting a goal on the board against Grand Canyon, but lost both games by one goal. The Knights are still searching for their first conference victory after finishing their non-conference schedule with two straight, and will have two chances against Bay Area opponents this week to get in the win column, including Saturday's International Day promotion. Sign up for Saturday at FAN BUS CENTRAL: http://bit.ly/eC8mrO

GOLDEN GATE GRUDGE MATCH
The Knights and the Lady Penguins met up three times last year, with ART U winning two and tying one against their North Bay rivals. This year, Dominican is sitting pretty at the .500 mark after a 1-0 win over East Bay opponent Holy Names in which Lauren Gollnick scored her first ever collegiate goal late in the match to notch the win. Julianna Bratsberg is leading the Lady Penguins with four goals and nine points overall, while goalkeeper Megan Herring has an outstanding .933 save percentage on the season. The Knights are 3-2-2 all-time against the Penguins.

UNITING THE NATIONS
The Urban Knights are celebrating the wide reach of their soccer teams with Saturday's International Day. Sixteen different nations spanning three continents are represented on the ART U and Holy Names rosters. Spectators who go to Friday night's ART U volleyball matchup with UH Hilo and wear their sweatbands to Saturday's game will get a free Urban Knights shirt! The Knights will also be running a day-long Twitter contest called #SilentSaturday, where a secret code word will be announced over Twitter but NOT on the PA system, so make sure to follow the Knights today.

HUNTING THE HAWKS
Holy Names is facing the growing pains of entering an extremely competitive conference, playing to a 1-7 record so far in 2012. Their one win this year came against Simpson College, a 2-0 contest back on September 8th. The Hawks are led by senior forward Britney Machado-Potestio, who has three goals on the year, and sophomore Rachel DeChristofaro has two assists in 2012. ART U and Holy Names have never played each other on the soccer pitch.

THE SLIMMEST OF MARGINS
The Academy of Art women's soccer team has played five games in a row that have been decided by one goal, and overall in 2012 have had seven of their eight matches decided by two goals or less. Unfortunately for the Knights, that streak of five started off with a win in their non-conference finale against Simon Fraser but has resulted in four straight defeats against stiff PacWest competition. However, the Knights are staying positive, citing their competitiveness within the conference and the one-goal margins so far against three of the top four teams in the conference in PLNU (1st), Dixie State (3rd), and Grand Canyon (4th). ART U has yet to play second-place California Baptist.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"We strive on our team to be best in the Bay. Our team is fired up and we're going to keep that momentum against these two teams. We're going to kick some butt." - Head coach Aileen Nasypany

COMING UP SOON
After their six-game home stand, the Urban Knights will play their first conference game outside San Francisco, taking on Notre Dame de Namur next week on Thursday.
