San Francisco, CA --
For the third time in three games, the Academy of Art women's soccer team played shut-down defense and held their opponent to one goal or less, but the attacks just weren't there and the Urban Knights came up empty in a 1-0 loss to new PacWest member Point Loma Nazarene University (4-1, 2-0 PWC). The Knights (2-4, 0-2 PWC) had opportunities on offense, but the defense held their own over and over again to turn away the Sea Lions on every attempt except the decider.

Rachael Rempe continued to play extremely well between the posts for the Knights, notching nine saves on the day to bring her season total to 25. Her most impressive of the day was with 20 minutes left in the game, when the Sea Lions had a one-on-one with the goalie and tried to go top shelf. Rempe needed every bit of her six-foot frame as she leapt straight up in the air to punch it off the crossbar.

Rempe and the Knights were not so lucky in the 77th minute, when PLNU lined up for a corner kick. The Sea Lions got the kick up and in the box, and Rempe went out to knock it away, but in the scrum, the ball ended up deflecting right to Jessica Van Loo, who was took the shot and buried it despite Rempe diving back across the goal to attempt the save.

That was the only goal of the game for either side, as the Knights attempts were all turned away. The Sea Lions attempted six corner kicks while ART U had none. Réa Laudat and Jacquie Wallace had shots on goal for the Knights, and Hannah Emmett also had a pair of shots as she got more involved on the offensive end.

The Knights will play next Thursday at home against Dixie State, and then host Grand Canyon on Saturday as their home-heavy PacWest slate continues.
